Early Updates – September 2021

Mark your calendars for the 2022 Connecticut Sea Music Festival! It’s June 10-13, 2022.

The Maritime Music and Tradition Society Corp. (more on that in a minute) has been working like crazy on getting everything set up properly for the very first Connecticut Sea Music Festival. We hope to finalize the arrangements, sign the contracts and publicly announce the location soon. For now, we can say it’s in Southeastern Connecticut.

Since we want the festival to survive for a long time, our other major endeavor has been setting up an ongoing organization (the Maritime Music and Tradition Society Corp.) to oversee the festival and ensure it is set up sustainably, and legally as a non-profit organization. The MM&TS is incorporated in the state of Connecticut, and has applied for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status with the IRS. This means that donations made to the festival and organization will be tax-deductible. As much of this festival is donor-funded, we want to do right by you. The 501(c)(3) status also means that in the future we will be able to apply for grants designated for nonprofits.

Who’s behind the MM&TS? Our Board of Directors is listed here. You know it takes more than a Board of Directors to put on a Festival, so we’ll be asking for volunteers as we get closer. We’ll also be out there passing the hat for contributions to get this Festival going. We are planning a Chantey Blast in January, with more details to come. For now, hold on to your checkbooks for just a little while longer.

Updates on the Festival and the MM&TS are available on this site, as well as on our social media pages or direct to your inbox from our Mailing List.
